“A collective project developed with over ten stakeholders across the Annecy Mountains resorts.”
The challenge
Annecy Mountains works to promote, structure, and energise tourism and economic activity across the mountain territories surrounding the Annecy basin.
Its ambition is to strengthen the attractiveness of these destinations while supporting their transition toward a more sustainable, four-season tourism model—less dependent on skiing and more resilient to climate change.
How can we present the richness and diversity of the Annecy mountains—their landscapes, activities, and heritage—in a way that is both clear and inspiring?
And how can we show that this is a vibrant destination all year round, easily accessible from Geneva, Lyon (airport), and the Mont Blanc area?
Creative approach
We designed the film as an animated travel journal, inspired by the visual language of scrapbooking and holiday memories.
The story begins with the opening of a notebook and gradually unfolds into a journey through a world of handwritten notes, taped photos, sketches, and annotations, all brought to life through animation.
This visual metaphor creates a warm, immersive experience that evokes exploration, travel, and personal memories.
Content
The animation highlights:
the geographical proximity of the region (Geneva, Lyon, airport, Mont Blanc),
the accommodation capacity and tourist offer,
a wide range of sports, outdoor, and cultural activities,
the local heritage and mountain villages.
The narrative is structured around the four seasons, presented through themed routes and typical day itineraries:
accommodation, morning wellness or yoga, village markets, guided visits, outdoor activities, and shared meals.
A concrete and engaging way to show that each season offers a complete and distinctive experience.
Key messages
The film supports Annecy Mountains’ core objectives:
Developing four-season tourism, beyond winter sports, including hiking, mountain biking, trail running, nature-based activities, and local heritage.
Strengthening the visibility and attractiveness of mountain destinations.
Supporting the transition of mountain territories, addressing climate change, reducing reliance on ski tourism, promoting sustainability, and encouraging soft mobility.
Outcome
A motion design film that is both informative and emotionally engaging, transforming a territory into a travel experience and inviting audiences to discover the Annecy mountains as a lively, accessible, and forward-looking destination—well beyond the winter season.
